This is a speeded up version of me making two simple #piped and #zipped scatter #cushions in a very pretty fabric from #VoyageFabrics. There are may ways to create a join in the piping. This one is a tapered overlapwhich is one of the quickest and easiest to do.

This is just a tiny one minute trailer of a massive two hour detailed 2 part video tutorial on how to make piped and zipped velvet box cushions. Both parts are approximately one hour long and detail full instructions from preparing all the component parts right through to putting in the foam inner and zipping up!

This is a super easy hack to modify a standard feather cushion inner into a plump box shaped cushion suitable for squab seating or scatter cushions. I love a quick hack like this. Made to measure feather cushions of any type can be expensive especially box cushions but most people have a few standard scatter cushions knocking about or they are available for just a few pounds at most furnishings shops.

Creating a neat double turned #hem can be tricky without forming bulk and lumpiness at the #corners which can be problematic on some things like #napkins, #placemats, #tablecloths and sheets. Placemats are the best example as they look their best when they lay completely flat. A standard hem can form such a build up of layers at the corners that the placemat won't sit flat.

I love this style of Soft Box Scatter Cushion With Invisible Zip. The simplicity of the boxed sides creates a smart contemporary style especially when contrasting colours or varying textures are used. Here the client wanted two similar tones of taupe in a Prestigious Textiles tweed effect weave and a luscious velvet. There were two pairs of scatter cushions in all; One with the weave front....

These Oxford cushions have a contrast mitred edge instead of the usual standard plain edge in the same fabric but adding a contrast usually creates its own problems with bulky seams and a join across the back to accommodate the zip. Not this method though... no no... this method gives you a super sleek finish with no seams on the edge and a fantastic hidden zip that's very hard to spot.

This video, mostly timelapse, is of me making a huge lined, blackout and interlined Roman blind from a sweet Clark & Clark seagull printed fabric. The blind was commissioned by one of my trade customers to cover a set of patio doors and needed to be blackout and interlined. Normally I would use bonded blackout interlining and indeed that was what was ordered but the request came in very late and all I had in stock was standard interlining and blackout lining so that's what I used. Making a bobble trimmed scatter cushion - Time lapse video showing how I made this lovely chunky decorative pillow using Swaffer fabric on the front and plain Ian Mankin velvet on the back and with Troynorth bobble trim around the edges and mitred and set it flat braid on the back.

Flanged braided cord can be very problematic to apply by machine and get a really neat finish so ensuring the use the right method is imperative. Careful sewing on the correct side to of the cord ensures that very little of the flanging shows around cushion edges and neatly joining the cord ends. In this video I hope you can see some of the methods used to acheive the best finish around cushions. These particular cushions are made using 3 different fabrics; a patterned Art Of The Loom....

Full start to finish film of how to make a pair of huge five width hand finished lined and interlined full length curtains with stuffed and capped cartridge pleat heading. Includes cutting, joining, pressing, inserting linings, hand sewing, measuring, pleating, stuffing and folding. The first part of the video has no music so records the many sounds of fabric being cut, sewn, moved, ironed and well as me foot stepping a million times round the worktable. Faster sections have a music background.

A quick video showing the construction of a #handsewn cotton bump #interlined and cotton sateen #linedcurtain with a chunky #doublepinchpleat heading, pleated to pattern so that a full moon coincides with every other pleat. Pleating to pattern makes for a lovely bespoke look and careful planning can create super effects with selective areas of the fabric repeating in the pleats across the curtain.

I had 2 large drum shades and 2 half round wall light shades to make but only had a few narrow offcuts of fabric to make them with. The drum shades are 25cm deep but the offcuts were only about 18cm deep and had a badly cut edge on one side. So I had to find a way of adding some fabric to make them deep enough and got lucky with the design of the fabric as it has a lovey shaded effect so I added a black velvet border to the bottom and created a smart gradient effect somewhat like an ombre effect
